Hundreds of families have crossed the border from Mali into Niger to escape the fighting in the northern part of the country.
Zoulfa, a mother of four, was forced to flee after armed rebels attacked her village. With little more than a few belongings and her goats, she faced no other option but to flee to Niger to ensure her children’s safety.
Now, the UN Refugee Agency is rushing 2 airlifts of basic aid — including tents, sleeping mats, kitchen sets, and more — in order to establish camps and improve living conditions for the dramatic rise in Malian refugees.
